Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
There has been a lot going on in my life lately, which can make me nervous and full of anxiety, so much so that I become paralyzed and don’t know what to do. Our first reading from Wisdom has a great antidote for that! “I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded, and the spirit of wisdom came to me. I preferred her [wisdom] to scepter and throne, and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her, nor did I liken any priceless gem to her.”
Are you going through a tough time? Do you look for God’s wisdom? I know for me this has been a challenge, to “let go and let God.” Remember what our second reading says today, “the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.”
Jesus is with you and His Holy Word, even when there are times when you don’t feel His presence. It is easy to be like the rich young man who went away sad because he had too many possessions, both physical and mental possessions. Instead, have childlike confidence and place all of your cares on the Lord. Why? Because he cares for you!
