Tuesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“The Lord said to the Pharisees, ‘Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.’”

Are you a follower of Jesus or are you a Pharisee? I know for myself this is a hard question because sadly there are times when I can be both. I may look nice, holy, and sometimes cute, but on the inside, there are sins – sins of pride, jealousy, and many others.

There is one place to go to get cleaned, the great sacrament of reconciliation! As Jesus said to St. Faustina, “Tell souls that from this fount of mercy, [confession] souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery because My grace turns away from them to humble souls.”

We must always humbly act on the Lord’s mercy and turn toward good so that, with God’s strength and love, we may be cleaned inside and out!
