Thursday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

Today’s Gospel says, “When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things, for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.” On Tuesday, I asked you if you are a follower of Jesus or a Pharisee, so I pose the question again, are you a follower of Jesus, following his commandments, being obedient to your superior or spouse? Or are you a Pharisee, only thinking of yourself and doing whatever you want and following the world and the trend?

With my recent anxiety, sometimes I think some of those around me seem like they care, but my mind runs amuck, thinking, “no, they don’t care for you at all! Just focus on yourself, gripe about how horrible God is to you…” But God, sees what is going on and says to my soul, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
