Saturday of the Second Week of Advent

Today's Mass Readings

“Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and we shall be saved.” This is the responsorial psalm for today, and the Alleluia verse is “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths: All flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

All week, I have been saying make an empty stable in your heart, prepare for his coming! Halfway through Advent, this would be a good time to reflect on how our lives have been. Have I been charitable toward my neighbor and toward myself? If we don’t take care of ourselves, and be busy with other people and their doings, we can miss the big picture. We have to prepare ourselves first, then we help others prepare for the Lord.

St. Maximilian Kolbe once said, “A soul consecrated to the Immaculata must freely follow its heart’s inspiration and approach the tabernacle, the Cross, and the Most Holy Trinity with greater resolve, for it will not be approaching them alone, but together with the heavenly Mother, the Immaculata.” Let us all strive forward. I wish you all a blessed Advent Season and a very Merry Christmas! +
