Memorial of St. Pius of Pietrelcina, Priest
“Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God’s heart. You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips but with your heart. In fact, on certain occasions, you should only speak to Him with your heart.” These are words from our saint today, St. Padre Pio! He is right—prayer is the best weapon that we have, it not only brings us joy but also God joy—especially those who haven’t talked to God in a long time!
Our responsorial psalm today says “Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.” Can you bring someone joy or, better yet, ask someone to pray with you who hasn’t prayed in a long time? My grandfather didn’t go to confession for a little over 50 years, but then he passed away receiving all the sacraments of the church and dying a peaceful death. Be a saint for someone today and every day. Bring them to prayer, and let yourself be led by prayer.
