Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

Today's Mass Readings

Death and Life

Recent events have been a legislative victory for the Pro-Life Movement in the United States. Namely, the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade from 1973, which made the right to have an abortion constitutionally protected, was overturned on June 24, 2022 (in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization).

This means that the power to regulate any aspect of abortion not protected by federal law is given back to the states. Those who advocate for the legal protection of unborn children rightfully rejoice! But their work continues. As does our prayer.

Today, let us pray for:

  • The many couples who conceive a child when they are not open to it or ready for it.
  • The many mothers who are hurt and violated by the lust of poor and broken men.
  • The many babies who are unwanted or unwelcome.
  • The many clinics, here and around the world, that administer the death of a life just begun.
  • The many hearts that are closed and darkened by the pressures and lies of this world…

This world that we all live in. This world that needs healing and love. This world that needs our prayers.

Mary, mother of Jesus and our mother, pray for us.
