Friday in the Octave of Easter

Today's Mass Readings

Yesterday, Jesus received the food. Today, he gives and serves the food to his sons. Two things I want to highlight here. When the disciples are being served breakfast by Jesus, it says that they dare not ask who he was. I believe they knew who he was, and that the reason they didn’t ask for his name is because they were embarrassed for what they did, turn their backs on him at the hour of his need. Friends, this is called shame, and they need to feel that. Because when they feel the shame, they recognize what they did was wrong, and hopefully are resolved to make it right.

It’s the same thing we go through when we’ve done wrong. It’s hard for us to look to Jesus, when we are embarrassed and shameful. And this is where the second item I wanted to discuss comes into play. Jesus is there waiting to serve us. Yes, it may be that case that we are not able to call his name or look at him because we’re embarrassed, BUT, he’s still there, waiting and wanting to serve us. This is our Lord! He is Risen! Alleluia!
