Monday of the Sixth Week of Easter
“When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me.”
Jesus tells us, in another place in St. John’s Gospel: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always.” As we approach the great feast of Pentecost, we do well to remember that because the Father has chosen us to be “in Christ” that we are always ‘in the light’!
We practice this being in the light when we ask the Holy Spirit for light in our daily dealings and when we then carry out the inspirations he then gives us. Of no little help for us would be also to ask this Advocate’s help to practice inner silence. This inner silence, largely freeing us from excessive anxiety, will help us to look upon everything we see in its capacity for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to Christ’s charity.
