Memorial of St. Pius X, Pope

Today's Mass Readings

It’s not fair! That’s my first response to today’s gospel parable. Workers should be paid what they worked! Period! In a perfect business company, that’s what a manager would want. Why, to be fair. To show order. Through the landowner in the parable, Jesus is trying to prove the point to his disciples that the faith is not a business. And the manager/boss who is God, doesn’t use their rules of order. God has his own rules and uses them at his discretion. Why? Because he is God! We are trying too hard to captain the ship, we want to be the driver in the car. That’s the perfect order for us, that’s what makes sense to us. God disrupts that order, and says no, I’m the captain, I’m the driver. Can we be OK with this? God is boss, let’s step back and let him be boss. St. Pius X, pray for us.
