Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today's Mass Readings

Mean it when you say “yes,” and look your best for the Lord. I have a confession to make, I replied “yes” to an RSVP and did not attend. It was for the wedding of two great friends. I later called and apologized to them greatly. I’m sure this happens a lot for those in the planning field and I’m sure I’m not the only one to have done this. My “yes” was empty. God invites us to his holy altar, his sanctuary. And all he wishes is that when we say “yes” to his invitation, we show up! He doesn’t want an empty “yes,” he wants “yes” with action. And when we put our “yes” into action, he wants us to look our best. Why? So, we know and feel that this is different. We’re not going shopping, we are not going to a birthday party, we aren’t going out to eat. We are going to the Lord’s great table. Looking different, and better dressed, helps us see and feel, that what we are doing, serving, and praising is different. And that “different” deserves our reverence and respect with a good appearance. May we always be mindful of the sacredness and beauty of God’s sanctuary and altar. St. Mary, Queen of heaven and earth, pray for us.
