Saturday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time
On this Marian Saturday, St. Maximilian Kolbe says about the rosary: “The Rosary is… a very sublime prayer… because by reciting it we reflect upon the mysteries of faith. Moreover, the more one is keen and competent in matters of faith, the deeper one can reflect on these mysteries and be led to discover in them an ever-growing number of practical tips for life.”
In the gospel Jesus’ heart was moved with pity for the crowds who were trying to follow him because they were like sheep without a shepherd. I have always heard that the rosary is like Our Lady’s lasso, always catching us when we stray too far. As a good mother, she brings us closer to her son with the Rosary. When was the last time you prayed a Rosary? Has it been awhile? I encourage you to pray the Rosary today, if it is hard to pray a whole rosary maybe just a decade. Today I will light a candle in front of Our Lady’s statue in our Abbey Basilica for all who read this. I pray that you and your loved ones may be caught in the loving lasso of the Rosary.
