Tuesday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

My maternal Grandfather was one of ten children. He and Grandma also had ten children. My Mom was one of 58 first cousins on her Dad’s side of the family alone. Mom, who will soon be 93 years old, knows the birth order of each of these cousins and can nearly provide all of their birth dates, too. I did not inherit that gene.

Family relationships are important. And, according to Jesus, so are faith relationships. When people live in accordance with God’s will, they are as closely connected as a mother is with her child. When they help one another, they are brothers and sisters.

Sometimes, persons connected by bonds of faith are, in truth, closer than those related by blood.
