First Sunday of Lent

Today's Mass Readings

Not so very long ago, we joyfully celebrated the birth of Jesus, the baptism of Jesus, and the presentation of Jesus in the Temple.

Last Wednesday, we entered more fully into the reason for God becoming man.

Lent is an olive branch. God, who provided us with this world and everything in it, reaches out in order to lead us and others to life.

He renews his original covenant with us (through Noah and his family).

He knows that we may not be able to fulfill our part of this covenant, so his only Son shows us the way to repentance and forgiveness.

God is not asking us to be perfect, but to be humble.
