Fourth Sunday of Easter
People are not always as they seem. And once we have labelled them (for better or for worse), it is hard for us to change our minds.
For the people of Capernaum and Jerusalem, Peter was a fisherman. But now the one who denied Jesus three times and ran away in fear is claiming that Jesus is Lord (King), Messiah (Redeemer), and Shepherd (Guide). The claim that he was resurrected has credibility because some people saw Jesus after his death. And now Peter has the courage and conviction to proclaim Jesus’ message.
What is the message? Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his footsteps.
