Friday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

This week it is all about freedom. Today Jesus warns us about the freedom of God’s will and knowledge: “there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed!” Jesus tells us that our lives are not entirely our own; his will and desire also have freedom it must enjoy. Even our attempts to hide, manipulate, and overpower will be revealed to the world; our lives will be released from secrecy.

There is, however, an upside—God notices. The Father cares so much for you. He knows each moment, each thought, and each action and loves you in that. He is willing to cast off his glory, leave behind the ninety-nine, and declare you far greater than all of his creation.

God loves all of his people and his creation, but his freedom means that he also loves you individually and has chosen you as his own to know, love, and save. Let us rejoice in God’s freedom which chose you, which still chooses you.
