Friday of the Twenty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit?” – Luke 6:39

Today’s Gospel reading shows us why self-knowledge is so important. If we are too focused on the sins of others, we can become blind to our own sins. This blindness makes us less effective evangelists and teachers, and can potentially cause scandal. It is easy for us to spot the sins of others, but we are often slow to recognize our own sins. This is why self-knowledge is so important. This is why we need to regularly put aside time to examine our own conscience.
