Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion

Today's Mass Readings

As we gather on this solemn day of Good Friday, we enter into the heart of the Paschal mystery—the mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and, ultimately, His glorious resurrection. Today, we pause to reflect on Jesus’s profound sacrifice for each of us out of His boundless love.

Good Friday is a day of remembrance and contemplation as we recall the excruciating agony that Jesus endured for our sake. He willingly accepted the weight of our sins upon Himself, carrying the cross to Calvary, where He would be crucified for the redemption of humanity.

The suffering of Christ on the cross reveals the depth of God’s love and mercy. Through His sacrifice, we are offered forgiveness, reconciliation, and the promise of eternal life. As the Scriptures tell us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” (John 3:16).

On this Good Friday, let us enter into prayerful reflection on the significance of the cross in our lives. The cross, once a symbol of suffering and death, has been transformed into a symbol of hope, salvation, and victory over sin and death through Christ’s resurrection.

As we venerate the cross and meditate on Christ’s passion, let us also unite our own sufferings, struggles, and burdens with His. Just as Jesus embraced His cross with courage and love, may we learn to embrace our crosses with faith and trust in God’s providence.

Through the intercession of Mary, the sorrowful Mother who stood at the foot of the cross, let us seek the strength to persevere in our journey of discipleship, knowing that the cross is not the end but a pathway to new life and glory.

May this Good Friday deepen our appreciation for the immense sacrifice of Christ and renew our commitment to follow Him with steadfast devotion and love.
