Memorial of Saint Clare, Virgin

Today's Mass Readings

Today is not only the feast of St. Clare of Assisi, but it is also the feast of St. Philomena! In our Alleluia verse today, we hear, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart.” Life is hard, and both Sts. Clare and Philomena knew this! We follow the Lord and think to ourselves, “Lord, why is this cross so heavy?,” and the Lord responds, “You are blessed!” If it were the yoke of this world, it would be ‘light,’ but that is a fake to show you that when time gets harder, there would be no one to reassure you of love and peace. You will start to worry and fall into despair, but His yoke, though it may seem heavy, is light because He is here to help you! With His strength, you are strong, and it becomes light! God has your back; never lose hope and be patient under trial!
