Memorial of Saint John Bosco, Priest

Today's Mass Readings

Sin causes division, and it also causes pain. King David’s infidelity with Bathsheba resulted in a rejection of God and His commandments (adultery and murder). David repented, and God forgave him. But David had to live with the consequences.

The sacrament of confession in the Catholic Church is an opportunity for confessing sins and receiving God’s forgiveness and reconciliation through the ministry of a priest. It is a major step in healing the divisions.

The memory of the pain caused by sin also helps in healing. A person lives with the consequences of sin, snd those consequences can be a reminder “to avoid these sins and to amend my life.”
