Memorial of Sts. Andrew Kim Tae-gŏn, Priest, and Paul Chŏng Ha-sang, and Companions, Martyrs

Today's Mass Readings

There is no doubt that if I witnessed someone rise from the dead, it would get my attention. In fact, it would bounce around in my head for days, and I would reflect upon it from many different angles. (I can be obsessive-compulsive sometimes).

Love is a great virtue; it affects how we live and how we treat others. But it is rooted in conviction, which keeps us loving even in difficult times. For St. Paul, the fact of Christ’s resurrection provides the firm foundation of faith.

Martyrs, such as St. Andrew Kim Tae-Gon and his companions, must have had faith strong enough to sustain their love of God and neighbor, even to death. Many people, unknown to us, have love strong enough to will the good of others (a kind of martyrdom, so to speak). All such actions, great and small, are known to God.
