Memorial of Sts. Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen, Bishops and Doctors of the Church
In our first reading today, we hear “Beloved: Who is the liar? Whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Whoever denies the Father and the Son, this is the antichrist. Anyone who denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.” One of our saints today, St. Gregory Nazianzen, says, “I cannot think on the one without quickly being encircled by the splendor of the three; nor can I discern the three without being straightway carried back to the one.”
If we lean on the Christ child and stay close to him, he will bring us to God the Father and the Holy Spirit. If we confess that we have Jesus, then we have the three in one and the one in three!
