Monday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

Today’s Gospel displays Jesus’ wondrous power. Not only can he heal a medical issue that doctors have failed to treat over 12 years, but even death is within his ability to heal. He has attracted great crowds because of his ability to heal, and he rewards those who come to him in faith. Indeed, his greatness is further emphasized in the fact that he knew of the woman’s affliction and suffering before she could ask for his help.

He has power over sickness and death, and he knows those who approach him before they can tell him. This tremendous power, though, does not create distance between him and those who seem to be powerless. He uses his power to raise up the lowly and to give life in place of death.
