Monday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

In our Alleluia verse, we read, “That if today you hear His voice harden not your hearts.” The Pharisees ask Jesus for a sign, and Jesus says there will be no sign except from the prophet Jonah when he was in the belly of the whale for three days. This is a preferment of Christ’s resurrection. He will be in the dark recesses of the Earth, go to hell, and as we sing on Holy Saturday, during the Triduum at the morning office, “He Summons Adam and his generations, brings light where darkness end-less seemed; He frees and claims his own so long held captive, with whom the living are redeemed.”

We should never harden our hearts. If we have, we still have time to start cracking away. Just the smallest crack can let Christ in! I often pray for my family members who have left the Church and the Sacraments, and say to the Lord, “Christ even the smallest crack can make your light shine through and burst their heart with you love and light!” Pray for those who need to be set free from the slavery of this world so they can truly be free.
