Saturday of the Third Week of Advent
“Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to thy will!” Our Lady’s fiat (yes) to the Lord! Very fitting that the Annunciation account comes on a Marian Saturday during Advent.
St. Maximilian Kolbe once said, “This time of ours is the era of the Immaculata, or, as others say, of the Holy Spirit. The snake raises its head all over the world, but the Immaculata will crush it with sensational victories. Yet he will not cease to lie in wait for her heel [cf. Gn 3:15].” The first knockout punch to Satan was Mary’s yes! Even today, Satan knows that his time is coming to an end! Fr. Gabriel Amorth, who was once the chief exorcist in Rome, said that he asked a demon why he hates Mary more than God and shared the following account. “I am more afraid when you say the Madonna’s name, because I am more humiliated by being beaten by a simple creature, than by Him.”
Like the infant Child, always stay close to Mary. Hang on to her mantle tightly, and never let go. If by chance you find yourself like a kid in a supermarket looking for your mom, do not be afraid. She has a mother’s heart and knows where you are and will lead you back to the Father! I hope you all have a blessed and holy Advent and Christmas season.
