Saturday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

Happy Marian Saturday, and to all my MIZZOU TIGER fans, happy Game Day!

St. Maximilian Kolbe said about our Lady, “Be child, servant, slave of love to her in every way and under any name or formula uttered so far or devised in this our time or in the future. In one word: be hers.” This quote of St. Maximilian Kolbe has summed up the week for us—to love and have childlike trust in God through the Immaculata. In our gospel today, when the 72 disciples returned rejoicing, the Lord said, “I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father.”

There was a television show called Mystery Science Theater 3000, about a guy stuck in space with his two robot (puppet) friends watching very horrible B-rated movies! One of those movies had a quote that has stuck with me about children. “Children grasp things much faster than adults. Their innocence makes them see things more clearly.” Use your eyes of faith like children and have childlike trust and love. Be a slave of the Immaculata so that she may lead you closer to Jesus’ heart!
