Thursday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

Our Faith and the Scriptures have given us many good prayers that are beneficial to us. They address different aspects of life and remind us of the ways that God interacts with his people. We perform these prayers to turn us away from temptations and to keep our lives focused on God, drawing us into greater union with him. The Lord’s Prayer, the Our Father, which Jesus taught his disciples, expresses deep trust in God, the one who created us and can provide for all of our needs, the one who is perfectly good and whose will should govern us, the one has the power to forgive our sins.

This is a simple prayer. The one who sincerely offers this prayer is not worried about what life will bring, knowing that God will always guide us toward what will benefit us. For we are God’s adopted children, chosen and loved by him, and offered forgiveness despite our faults.
