Thursday of the Second Week of Lent
This gospel today is like Jesus is talking to a brick wall. “’Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ Then Abraham said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'” Jesus had to explain to the Pharisees in a parable that even if someone would come back from the dead, it would be no use because their hearts are hearts of stone!
This past Advent, I told prepare your hearts as a stable to welcome the newborn King. Is your heart still like a stable? Would you accept Jesus with childlike confidence? Examine yourself and see how you treat others both in word and in action. See if you have a heart of flesh or a heart of stone, and if it’s a heart of stone, how could you change it to become a heart of flesh?
