Thursday of the Seventh Week of Easter
The 17th chapter of the Gospel of St. John is often referred to as the High Priestly Prayer of Jesus. He prays for those who have been with him and who believe in God through him. He also prays for those who will come to belief through the witness these disciples give.
Our prayers are often for the needs of people we know. This is right and good.
Jesus asks that we extend our prayers for the needs of people we do not know, but who are beloved by God.
When we pray to God, through Jesus his Son, in the Holy Spirit, such prayers are boundless.
