Thursday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“Then King David went in and sat in the Lord’s presence and said, ‘Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house, that you should have brought me so far? And yet even this is too little in your sight, Lord God!” (2nd Samuel 7:18-19). This is the act, and these are the words of someone who is overwhelmed. God took a shepherd and made a king. God gave him children and promised him an eternal heritage.

But great promises bring great responsibility. Lamps are not meant to be placed under a bed.

“Thy will be done” implies an occasional sacrifice.
