Tuesday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
As we approach this Lenten season, the first reading tells us to be prepared for the Grace that we will experience in the Paschal Season. We must ready ourselves and live soberly. We live a life that embraces the hope of the revelation of our salvation, which has been given to us in the life, passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. We live this hope by being “like obedient children,” moving beyond our earthly desires and into the message of the Gospel. We give up our earthly desires, moving beyond them, because of the Love that Christ has for our humanity. We desire to be in his eternal bond of Love because Christ himself first desired and loved us. We are called, through His desiring love, to enter into His life. We are told, “as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, be holy because I am holy.”
May this season of Lent be for us a time to grow in holiness, a time to hope in what was foretold by the prophets, and a time to enter more and more deeply into the Love of Christ Jesus, our beloved Bridegroom.
