Tuesday of the Fifteenth Week of Ordinary Time
I don’t know about you, but sometimes it can feel like that the walls are closing in around me. There are times when I just want to give up and run. But there is one thing that gives me hope, and that is faith. In the first reading today, God tells Isaiah to tell Ahaz to have faith, and if he loses faith, then he will fall. Faith is our drive to persevere, the faith in Christ Jesus and the Church. Jesus tells St. Faustina in her diary “For Me to be able to act upon a soul, the soul must have faith. O how pleasing to Me is living faith!” [1420]
How do we cultivate the faith that we were taught as children? In the alleluia verse today, we read, “if today you hear his voice, harden not your heart.” And on Sunday when we heard the parable of the sower and the different types of soil, the rich soil which is the word of God and that leads to heaven, is cultivated by our lectio divina and Eucharistic adoration. This is when we truly hear the word of God and especially when we receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. I challenge you today to listen to the voice of the Lord through scripture. Tell him, as Samuel said to the Lord, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening,” and experience the love the Lord has for you.
