Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Today's Mass Readings

“The LORD said to Moses, ‘Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and whoever looks at it after being bitten [by the serpents] will live.” “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM!” In the first reading we have the prefiguration of the cross. The serpents are the poisonous sins that we commit which can kill us spiritually. We look to the saraph on a pole for healing just like we look to Jesus on the cross for healing of our sins! When the priest raises the host and the chalice at the consecrations, we should be fully aware that I AM is with us. When we receive him, he heals us and all our wounds.
