Tuesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

St. Peter tells us to “Wait for and hasten the coming of the day of God.”

The ladder of virtues (faith > virtue > knowledge > self-control > endurance > devotion > mutual affection > love) takes time to climb because we sometimes take two steps backward. The “waiting” part St. Peter speaks of involves acknowledging and confessing our fault, then taking one step forward again.

While we are in this world, there will be many “waiting” moments. But with humility and contrition, we will slowly gain in virtue. Then our will and God’s will align, and the day of God will quickly come.
