Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent
Today is a great day to celebrate the gift of life! In our first reading, we hear “Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool.” Our sins—our souls—have been washed in the Blood of the Lamb! We should rejoice and be glad!
I am reminded of what Treebeard says in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. “But there, my friends, songs like trees bear fruit only in their own time and in their own way: and sometimes they are withered untimely.” We should live out a glad song to the Lord and say, “thank you Lord for all that you have done to me, though my sins are like scarlet, you have washed them in your own blood, and they may become white as snow!”
