Move for the Lord

The Lord has come. He is in our midst. Can you feel Him?

King David danced before the ark of the Lord with abandon (2 Samuel 6:14). What a sight it must have been to see the ruler of the nation dance with abandon before the ark of the Lord, the golden chest that contained the precious relics of the covenant with God.

What if, when we gathered in our churches, our modern-day temples, we danced before the Lord with abandon, with no care for the thoughts of others? What a sight that would be! But really, what a feeling of communion with God and one another that would be. (Some churches really do move and dance. Praise the Lord!)

Well, if not in our own congregations, why not try it, just yourself? Right now?

Just move. Lift up your hands. (Psalm 134:2)

Make a gesture. Bow down. (Psalm 29:2)

Make a shout! (Psalm 95:1) Move with abandon!

If the mountains leapt like rams and the hills like yearling sheep at the presence of the Lord (Psalm 114:4), why don’t we?

If you look for it, there’s a lot of moving, dancing, and shouting mentioned in the Bible. The people rejoiced at the presence of the Lord—and they showed it! So, when you move today—walking to your car, working out at the gym, or just resting on your couch—become mindful of your body. Imagine the loving presence of the Lord. And move for the Lord.
