Wednesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“Hear me, all of you, and understand.” C’mon Jesus, they’re not going to get it. I’m sorry, I just had to say that. Don’t get lost in the words in the Gospel today.

Let’s focus on two words from the passage; stomach and heart. To stay healthy persons, we have to eat. When our stomachs tell us it’s eating time, we eat. The stomach is an important organ. Also important is the heart. The heart is the nucleus, not just vital to the human body, but also vital for a person’s soul. Without a clean heart, a soul can fall empty. And just like listening to our stomachs, we gotta listen and take care of our hearts and fill them with the Lord’s graces. This challenge is a little harder. It’s a lot easier to listen to our stomachs. When we’re hungry, we jump into action. But when we need to feed our hearts, I think we move a little slower.

Brothers and sisters, let’s be mindful of this valuable organ that we have, and keep our hearts clean and fed with God’s blessings.
