Wednesday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Today's Mass Readings

“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” Jesus came into his native place, and all that he said and did was met with doubt and questioning. It is hard to see Jesus in those we have known for a long time, like our family, friends, or coworkers. Oftentimes, the grace and love of Jesus can come to us in the familiar. We must strive to seek Jesus in everyone we encounter so that Jesus may be honored even in his native place. Let us not ignore Jesus in our brothers and sisters so that He might work mighty deeds in our lives through them. Let us listen with the ear of our hearts to those we encounter so that we might not miss Jesus’ words spoken to us. May Jesus be amazed not by our lack of faith, but by the openness of our hearts and the greatness of our love for him who comes to us in the familiar, through our relatives, friends, and all we are blessed to meet.
