Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Today's Mass Readings

In the gospel reading today, we hear, “Jesus answered the Jews: My Father is at work until now, so I am at work. For this reason they tried all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God.”

I guess you can say things are getting pretty serious for Jesus. But as Jesus says to them so that they could at least try to understand, “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for what he does, the Son will do also. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.” Jesus is the gate to get to the Father, and Our Lady and the saints are the bridges. The saints and Mary want us to get to the Gate so that the Gate, Christ, may open wide its doors to show you the love God has for you. We are his creation. St. Theresa of Avila reminds us that if we open our hearts fully to God, he will show us his light, and our hearts will burn with his love!
