Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter
Today’s responsorial psalm verse stuck out to me the most today. “The Lord hears the cry of the poor.” I am not only thinking of those who are poor in material possessions but poor in spirit. They could be the wealthiest people on the planet, but in spirit, they possess nothing. It makes me sad for these people who turn to their riches and the devil tricks them to think that they have it all—that they don’t need Jesus! This is preposterous.
As our Gospel reading says today, “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” Let us pray for those who have hardened hearts, that their hearts may return to flesh and realize that Jesus is all that we need. Then and only then, they will realize that they are rich!
