Wednesday of the Seventh Week of Easter
Jesus knew that he was going to ascend into Heaven, and so he prayed to his Father to watch over the flock he had been given.
St. Paul knew he was going to be imprisoned, and possibly put to death, in Rome for his faith. And so, he prayed to God to protect the Church of Ephesus, and he gave final instructions to the Church leaders.
Departures are hard. When children grow up and leave home, it is difficult for everyone. Parents give final instructions and advice, hoping to protect their sons and daughters. The young adults, despite the excitement of making their way in life, have some fear because they do not know what they don’t know.
At these times, faith in God and a sincere prayer life are essential.
