The Light of Life
“Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.” (cf. John 8:12, Responsorial Refrain)
What is light? Consider the light from your lamp, or the light emanating from your device, or the sunlight pouring into your room through the window. What is light? Scientifically, visible light is both an electromagnetic wave and a massless particle. (ScienceABC.com) Spiritually, God is light. (1 John 1:5) Visible light and spiritual light both have significance in our lives.
I need light to see where I am going. As humans, we feel better when we spend some time in the Sun. Similar things can be said in spiritual terms. I need God’s light to guide me in my words, actions, and decisions. As a Catholic, I have read somewhere that spending some time in Eucharistic Adoration is like bathing in the Sun—we often feel better when we spend some intentional time with the Lord in prayer.
Lord Jesus, you are the Light of Life; come shed your rays upon my heart and my path.
